Description
While trying to photograph a pika among the rocks in Jasper National Park, I was surprised by a northern hawk owl flying over the spot where the pika had just been. It perched in a nearby tree as flurries began to fall, giving me a few minutes to capture its striking yellow-eyed stare before it flew away. I had been so focused on one tiny animal that I never expected this encounter—an unforgettable moment of pure luck
